Balanced lifting for a heavy or stuck door — across Santa Rosa Beach, Point Washington, Seagrove Beach, Blue Mountain Beach, Dune Allen Beach, Grayton Beach, Seaside.
We repair broken garage door springs and restore controlled, balanced door travel. Torsion springs are mounted on a shaft above the door, where they turn to counterbalance its weight. Extension springs stretch alongside the horizontal tracks, and a containment cable threaded through each one is meant to hold it if it breaks. A visible gap in a torsion spring coil, a heavy door, or an opener that strains can point to spring failure.
Along the Gulf coast, salt air can corrode nearby metal hardware, so we check the spring assembly, cables, drums, and bearings for wear as well as breakage. The torsion tube is the shaft that holds torsion springs; a cable drum guides a lift cable. The center bearing supports the shaft in the middle, and an end bearing plate supports it at the end.
Our crew matches replacement springs to the door's weight, height, drum and track setup, because DASMA warns that a spring that does not fit the door shortens cycle life and can make manual operation unsafe. On a two-spring door, we usually replace both to keep the lift even. We wind springs with proper winding bars and carry common spring sizes, cables, bearings, and repair tools on the truck. We also inspect the strut, a door reinforcement bar, and the astragal, the seal along the bottom edge.
Rust is the local enemy of a spring. DASMA's technical sheet on spring cycle life says rust reduces the working area of the wire, corrosion pits can start fatigue cracks that shorten cycle life, and springs should be kept dry and lubricated as the door maker directs. NOAA's 1991-2020 normals for the Destin airport station show about 55 inches of rain a year, and salt air reaches inland from the Gulf, so we inspect every spring for rust as well as for breaks.
DASMA also says doors in climates with frequent rain or a saline coastal location should be kept closed where possible, since an open door exposes its springs to the weather.

A crew member answers and asks what the door did, whether it is open or closed, and what you heard or saw. We explain what to expect during the inspection.
On site, we check the springs, cables, drums, bearings, and door balance. We give you the exact repair quote and get your approval before work starts.
We match replacement springs to the door and usually replace both springs on a two-spring setup to keep the lift even. We use proper winding bars and check the related hardware.
Before departure, we assess balance and travel, then test the opener's reversal using a 2×4 board lying flat on the floor along the door's path. The door must reverse when it meets the board.
Starting prices. A door has two lift cables and one or two springs; the exact price depends on the door, the hardware grade and how many parts are replaced, and is confirmed on site before any work starts.
Tell us what your door is doing and we'll call you right back. Starting prices are on our pricing page; the exact price depends on the door, parts, and size, and you get it on site before any work starts.
